We’ve all been there—that moment when it feels like the water is rising from our feet to our knees, and we know it’s only a matter of time before it’s above our heads. Or those frustrating seasons when life seems to resist us at every turn.
Moments like these can leave us feeling stuck. Circumstances such as financial loss, the passing of a loved one, or health concerns can render us hopeless, stressed, and unable to see when—or even if—things will get better. Why Hyperopic Connections Matter This brings me to the importance of surrounding ourselves with hyperopic individuals—those who are far-sighted. What’s up close may appear blurry or unclear to them, but they have a gift for focusing on what lies beyond. They don’t fixate on the immediacy of a problem but instead extend their view, seeing the bigger picture and the brighter possibilities down the road. How They Help When We’re Stuck So, what does this have to do with drowning in fears and circumstances? When we’re in a heightened emotional or irrational state, it’s hard to talk ourselves out of the mental fog that clouds our perspective. In those moments, hyperopic individuals are invaluable. They don’t dwell on the current chaos but instead see it as a small piece of the greater journey. They remind us that the storm is temporary and often help us recognize how we might emerge from it stronger, wiser, and in a better position than before. Finding Far-Sighted Friends Evaluate your relationships and connections. Do you have individuals in your life who can help you see past the bumps in the road, no matter how big or small they seem? These are the people who have likely faced their own bumps or have already reached destinations—both physical and mental—that you aspire to reach. They bring wisdom, clarity, and encouragement when you need it most. Stay well, Frankie Alisha
