"There are more years behind me than ahead of me..."Growth and transformation require courage—the kind of courage that sends many cowering into the darkest corners of their comfort zones, locking their doors, or clinging tightly to traditions, teachings, and beliefs passed down through generations. These are often picked up along life’s road as a way to navigate the uncertain terrain of existence.
For many, the fear of change is paralyzing. It’s daunting to step out of what’s familiar and into the unknown, where the impossible suddenly becomes “I’m possible.” Growth demands that we look closely at ourselves, piecing together the broken fragments until we can see the truth: the gap between who we are and who we have the potential to become. Somehow, we’ve grown hesitant to walk higher paths. Whether it’s fear of rejection, failure, ostracism, or the discomfort of challenging traditions, religions, or other deeply held beliefs, we stay rooted in place. "There are more years behind me than ahead of me..." Before you know it, you may find you’ve spent the majority of your life in someone else’s patchwork shoes—shoes that never quite felt like your own. What If Today Is the Day? Maybe today, you’re sitting at home, thinking about all the things you’ve always wanted to do with your life. Maybe you’ve decided you want your life to be your message—one filled with humanity, exploration, and purpose. Maybe you just want to wake up in the morning and be unapologetically you, free from shame, poor self-worth, or the need to explain yourself to anyone. Maybe you want the courage to go for that new position, quit a job, return to school, or simply walk away from the things that no longer serve you. Or maybe you just want to discover who you really are. Take the First Step I’m here to encourage you: take that first step down the path of exploration. You might just find that what you once feared feels more like “home” than anything you’ve ever known. Before we can truly be ourselves, we must embark on the journey to know ourselves. That means facing our fears, understanding our limitations, and identifying our likes and dislikes. Through honest self-examination and a willingness to question our thoughts and beliefs, we can begin to peel back the layers of expectations placed upon us by others. Beneath those layers lies our authentic core—our truest self. Transformation isn’t easy, but it’s worth it. Growth may feel like walking into the unknown, but on the other side is freedom, authenticity, and the life you were meant to live. Stay well, Frankie Alisha
