If you’re here, it’s likely because you’ve been feeling a weight in your life. Maybe it is a restlessness, a sense of not being enough, or the nagging feeling that what you’re chasing does not match what you truly need. I want you to know that you’re not alone. I see you. And I believe that with a few gentle shifts, you can find the clarity and calm you’re looking for.

I recently read The Next Day by Melinda French Gates, and one line in particular has stayed with me:

“The day after is when the hard work begins.”

Fear: The Feeling That Keeps Us Running

The damaging thing about fear is that we feel it so deeply it can alter the course of our lives. We feel it so intensely that it becomes almost impossible to regulate the emotional state it catapults us into. For me, fear often pushes me straight into action. I feel like I must do something now to prevent whatever outcome I’ve either catastrophized in my head or know to be true.

Let’s bring this down to earth, because I think we’ve all lived it in some way.

Living with the Cracks

I’ve been thinking about how houses settle over time, how the wood expands and contracts with each season. It can feel unsettling to see cracks form in the sheetrock, like something is breaking when really it’s just shifting. The structure is still solid, the foundation is still sure, but the house keeps moving in small ways we don’t always see.

Invite All Parts of You Out for Coffee

We all have so many versions of ourselves that lend to the person we are today. It’s time to invite them in the room, to let them be seen, and moment after moment to dissolve the shame that makes us want to hide those parts. In that moment, our struggles become our superpower. Our broken places cement our value and reveal the importance of self-compassion practices that build wholeness and connection. They say you can only help someone if you know where they live, if you’ve had to navigate your way from similar places too.
A serene coffee moment shared by different versions of the same woman, reflecting on self-acceptance and connection.

Finding My Own Way Through Conflict

I was listening to a conversation recently that made me stop and really think about how we show up for hard conversations. The podcast episode with Mel Robbins and Kwame Christian, had me pausing, rewinding, and scribbling notes more than once. It wasn’t about having the perfect strategy or following a script. It was about those small choices we make in the middle of the mess, the quiet ways we keep ourselves grounded when everything feels like it could slip out of control.
Reflecting on curiosity and connection.
“A quiet pause to gather my thoughts and reconnect, the gentle art of listening to myself and to others.”

What It Means to Come Home to Yourself

This morning, I sat across from a friend at Great Harvest Bread Company. I had the breakfast sandwich on their Dakota bread, seedy and soft, the kind of bread that makes you want to slow down. My friend ordered the grilled cheese with ham on sourdough, and we talked about what it means to feel at home in your own life. Not the house you live in or the roles you play, but the quiet place inside that doesn’t need permission to exist.

Letting Go of Expectations From Others

"We cannot expect others to give what they do not possess."

Life is full of disappointing moments, especially when our expectations of others don’t align with their reality. We often feel hurt when someone doesn’t meet our needs—whether that’s kindness, honesty, or support. But what if they simply don’t have the capacity to offer those things?

The More I Work, The More I Crave the Pause

By Frankie Alisha

There are days I’d rather be laying in bed alone with my thoughts.
Not because I’m overwhelmed or avoiding life, but because there’s something deeply comforting about the quiet. The kind of quiet where your thoughts roam freely, not in loops of worry, but in waves of reflection. Sometimes I imagine myself sitting in a rocking chair, watching the view. The green of trees swaying gently. The shimmer of light dancing on water. The way a pond flows without rushing anywhere.
That’s the kind of stillness I’ve been craving more lately.

Holding the Now and the Next at the Same Time

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how strange it is to want two seemingly opposite things at the same time.
To be present… and to move forward.
To rest… and to reach.
To savor now… and to still crave what’s next.
It’s easy to feel like life pulls you in two directions — the grounded beauty of this moment, and the ache to grow beyond it. I used to think I had to choose. But the older I get, the more I realize it’s not a tug of war. It’s more like a rhythm. A harmony.

One Foot in Front of the Other: What Momentum Really Means to Me  By Frankie Alisha

I’m turning 42 soon.

That number isn’t just a milestone. It’s a mirror. One that’s reflecting everything I’ve lived through and everything I’m still trying to become. As a woman, a mother, a wife, and a therapist, I’ve come to understand that healing doesn’t happen all at once. Change isn’t loud or dramatic. More often, it’s quiet. Subtle. And sometimes, it’s a little clumsy.
But most of all, it’s built one step at a time.

Honoring the Journey: A Lesson from LeBron James

1/20/2025

"Always take into consideration the person’s journey in regard to their contribution."

During a post-game interview, LeBron James was asked about a teammate’s contribution to Game 7, which led to their NBA Championship victory. LeBron’s response reflected not just leadership but a deep respect for the teammate’s journey. He acknowledged that while winning the game was the ultimate goal, his teammate’s presence on the court was about much more than stats. The teammate had undergone heart surgery a few years prior and was just excited to be back playing the sport he loved.

The Beauty and Blessings in Growth

The Beauty and Blessings in Growth

"There is beauty and blessings in our continued growth in the Lord."

When we grow foundationally in the Lord, we subsequently increase in wealth, stature, maturity, and knowledge. When we study the Word and learn what He requires of us, the teachings overflow into all aspects of our lives: relationships, personal growth through discipline and hard work, our attitudes and perspectives toward life and circumstances, and moral character and ethics.

Hi, I’m Frankie. I’ve loved writing since I was a child, not just the stories, but the way words can carry emotion, truth, and understanding. I’m curious about people, life, and the deeper meaning beneath the surface. This blog is where I reflect, create, and try to capture what it means to be fully human. Thanks for being here. Let’s grow together.
