Letting Go of Unhealthy Attachments
"Some people are only compatible with an expired version of you." – Kimberly Jones Pothier We often hold onto relationships, habits, careers, and even outdated ways of thinking long after they have served their purpose. In doing so, we resist the changes God is trying to make in our lives. Sometimes, we’re better at mending attachments than licensed surgeons are at stitching wounds. Yet, when God removes something or someone from our lives, it’s not without reason. The challenge arises when, instead of letting go, we attempt to reconnect with what no longer serves us. We’ll find equally unhealthy replacements or become so focused on one offense that we’re unable to heal and move forward. This pattern creates cycles of disappointment, resentment, and bitterness. The truth is, holding on to unhealthy attachments only leaves us disgruntled and disconnected from the joy God desires for us. When we cling to what is not meant for us, we often find ourselves sharing our frustrations with anyone who will listen. But let’s be honest: we’re tired of retelling the same stories, and others are tired of hearing them. Isn’t it time to break free? Breaking the Cycle of Unhealthy Attachments
It’s not easy to walk away from what’s familiar, even if it’s harmful. But when we trust God and stop trying to mend what He has removed, we open ourselves to a life of joy, peace, and fulfillment. Let’s commit to letting go of unhealthy attachments and stepping into the freedom God has prepared for us.
