Happiness is a decision—one we must consciously make every day. I’ve had mornings where I’ve woken up and let trivial things steal my joy: tripping over something, missing my morning coffee, or not feeling where I wanted to be in life. Each of those moments snowballed into a day filled with dissatisfaction and frustration. It wasn’t the circumstances themselves, but my decision to let them dictate my outlook. Choosing happiness doesn’t mean ignoring the hardships in life. It’s about acknowledging that while challenges exist, they don’t have to define us. We don’t need to wear “happy filters” in public only to come home feeling critical or defeated. Authentic joy isn’t about pretending everything is okay but about refusing to let negativity consume us. It’s a simple mindset shift that can change the tone of your entire day. When you wake up, speak positivity over your life. Say affirmations, focus on your blessings, and remind yourself that your feelings don’t need to match your circumstances. Life may not always be perfect, but we can choose to find the light even on cloudy days. The most important words you’ll ever hear come from your own thoughts—make them kind and uplifting.

AuthorMy name is Frankie Reed-Shaw. I am a wife, mother of three, therapist, and lover of all things creative—especially writing thought-provoking pieces. About eight years ago, I began blogging about growth, maturity, and spiritual concepts. My passion lies in expressing challenging ideas that encourage me—and others—to think outside the box and strive to live an authentic, liberated life, free from unnecessary constraints. As a therapist, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside people on their journeys toward self-discovery and healing, which deepens my belief in the importance of authentic connection and growth. Don’t be shy! I’d love for you to share your life experiences and wisdom in the comments of any post. Let’s continue to learn and grow together. Archives
