It’s been a challenging few months, and many of us are mentally overworked from the uncertainty ahead. As a school counselor, mother of an immunocompromised child, two ready-to-return-to-school kids (including a teenage son), and wife of a high-risk individual, I’ve spent countless hours mapping out scenarios and plans. But today, I’ve decided to lay those worries to rest and focus on what I can do now for my family and community. Here’s What I’m Committing To:1. #MaskUp Everywhere I Go From stores to early-morning walks, I’ll wear a mask to protect my immunocompromised daughter, my husband, our elderly neighbors, veterans, and others who are vulnerable. It’s a small act of patriotism that can make a big difference. 2. Practice Physical Distancing Turning down social invitations is hard, but it’s a necessary sacrifice for the health and safety of our country. By maintaining distance, I’m doing my part to protect those who can’t fight this virus on their own. 3. Avoid Negative Conversations Stress weakens our immune system, and engaging in negative conversations about politics, Covid-19, or general complaints only adds to that stress. Studies have shown that stress increases cortisol levels, which can impair the body’s ability to fight off infections (Miller et al., 2004). By choosing positivity, I’m helping my mental and physical health. We all have someone we #MaskUp for—whether it’s ourselves, a loved one, or a vulnerable member of our community. When we #MaskUp in solidarity, we join the fight against a virus that threatens to bring our country to its knees. I know why I #MaskUp. Who do you #MaskUp for? Stay well, Frankie Reed-Shaw

AuthorHi, I’m Frankie. I’ve loved writing since I was a child, not just the stories, but the way words can carry emotion, truth, and understanding. I’m curious about people, life, and the deeper meaning beneath the surface. This blog is where I reflect, create, and try to capture what it means to be fully human. Thanks for being here. Let’s grow together. Archives
